On 16th August 1819, 60,000 people gathered at St Peter’s Field in Manchester to peacefully demand the reform of parliamentary representation.  Eighteen people died and around 700 were injured when troops charged the crowd. This became known as the Peterloo Massacre.

These images document Bolton Socialist Club's march to the 200th anniversary of Peterloo in August 2019.
